Another small hidden gem!

After a beautiful drive up the NSW Central Coast yesterday, we have arrived at Myall River camp. We are parked 5 metres away from a small sandy beach on the side of the river. Lots of swimming, fishing, reading, relaxing and walking. A fisherman has just been around selling fish, we bought a 1.75 kg flathead for $15.....at 2 o'clock he is coming around to give us a lesson in filleting, so we can make the most of it and do it ourselves next time. That's dinner for tonight, I will do some chips on the Weber, make some Tartare, and enjoy with a tasty little sauv blanc. Doesn't get much fresher!
We passed through some great little places yesterday.....were tempted to stop at Terrigal but there isn't a free camp there, just expensive caravan parks. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, nice boutiques, and heaps of people. The names of places are fascinating, Tumbi Umbi, Kangy Angy, Kurri Kurri and more. We try and get off the highway, even though it might take us a few extra hours it is so worth it to drive the scenic route.
We have 31 days before we meet Katie Jo in Byron Bay......and only 600 km to travel, so we are able to spend lots of time enjoying this beautiful part of the world.
We are a 5 minute drive from the little town of Hawks Nest, from where we can catch a ferry to Nelson Bay. We will do that on Monday, as we remember a pie shop in Nelson Bay which we frequented a few years ago. Cameron Stewart has a shop and lives at Nelson Bay..... those of you local boys who are snappy dressers will remember him!
Just off for a swim, sharing the river with a few houseboats passing, the odd fisherman, ducks teaching their little ones to swim, and a couple of Germans who are camped nearby.
Tough I know, but someone's gotta do it! Keep the comments coming, Ron, we love them. We are trying to find a place to stay where you haven't been or lived!
